- Key signatures contain up to 5 flats; increased key changes within compositions
- Time signatures include 2/4, ¾, 4/4, 6/8, 9/8, cut-time; time signatures change within compositions
- Compositions contain a greater variety of tempi

- High School through college level compositions
- Key signatures include up to 6 flats and 1 sharp
- Time signatures: 2/3, ¾, 4/4, 6/8,9/8,12/8, cut-time with meter changes within compositions
- Performance durations over 5 minutes, avoiding less than 3 minutes
- Tempo: Largo to Presto, not faster than 168
- All rhythmic patterns except complex 16th note syncopation or complex compound patterns
- Trumpets play up to C above the staff
- Trombones, Tubas and Baritones play up to G
- Clarinets play above, up and down the break
